Hailed as an Italian classic that is finally translated into English, I wonder what all the hype is about. The story is about a disrupted family after the second world war, living in a flat in Milan, with women of three generations, and men missing as a result of divorce or as war casualties.
Basically nothing happens, at least not in the first fifty pages, after which I put the book away. It's boring, the dialogues and the characters are bourgeois and uninteresting.
My time is too valuable for this. There are better things on my reading pile.
